Meaning of "SATVIK"

“SATVIK”....is my name. Quite different from crowd and very much deserving by holder....oh!!! I am praising myself!! Whatever?? But let me tell you meaning of the word “Satvik”.

Satvik is Sanskrit word...

Word Satvik usually comes with food. Satvik Aahar!!Satvik Food- It means that very pure and healthy food.

Satvik is word found in Bhagavad Gita (- is the key philosophical scripture of yoga and meditation of Hinduism). There are three natures of human beings as per Bhagavad Gita-Rajas, Tamas and Satvik.

Rajas is a person living in king style. He considers others as his servant and gives order to them. He is overconfident and depends on the other for everything. Spend his entire life in soiling parents’ or family’s money.

Tamas is one having very poor and very very bad nature. He is very lazy person. He always creates problem for others. He likes violence. Even this word is referred for darkness.

These are two extremities. The best way of living in the world is Satvik nature-
No Rajasa, No Tamasa. Hence only the god Krishna said “I like Satvik” in the Bhagavad Gita.

Satvik is very simple and straight forward personality. He is pure person. He likes peace. He is self dependent. He is confident about himself and whatever he does. He is very helpful to society. He gives respect to others. Society has respect for him.

Very few people know about meaning of Satvik....
In short best way of living in the world is Satvik!! Best person in the world is satvik!!

I am very lucky that my parents understood meaning of Satvik and even find it correct for their new born baby (me). But it is very much true that whatever is the best in the world, is not easy to be in practical. Even I am not exact what Satvik means. But I always try to be Satvik in nature. Even you also try.

If everyone in the world is Satvik (may not be by name but by nature), we will have Satvik world.... Everywhere peace.... Everyone peaceful...

(This is my 1st blog..... your comments matters a lot....
.....to encourage me and even to correct me)

  3. I'm Vicky I was fall in love with a girl named Swathi in the year 2007 and got married with the same girl in the year 2009.

My Lucky number is "9" so I want to get married on this date "09-09-09". I missed my lucky date and lucky month but I was at least able to get married to my loved girl in the year "09".

After some time I'm blessed with a baby boy. As I said I missed my lucky date and lucky month but my son fulfilled my lucky date and lucky month. He was born on on "09-09-11".

We sincerely believe he is our lucky son. So finally we decided to keep his nick name as lucky.

    His official name is Deevi.Satvik.

  6. Hi Satvik, I am Satvik too!
    Sounds funny!
I too wanted a deeper insight on my name.
    Thanks for your post!
Also I wanted to share something with you. Satvik = 'sat' + 'vik', 'sat' ~ 'sath' = 7 (sanskrit numeral).
7 is a very auspicious number in Hindu religion.
There are 7 lives for a human, white light is made up of 7 colours, there are 7 days in a week, there are 7 spokes on the statue of liberty representing the 7 continents, ...!
    But...
In chinese mythology, 7 is a ghost number! (I have no idea why!)
BUT it is very auspicious in Hindu mythology. (No idea of any other mythologies.)
And I was born on the 7th of March.
I am very happy with this!
